Abstract

This study assessed information systems in recruitment process at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC), Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The objectives of the study included the following: to examine factors that hinder effectiveness of information system (IS) usage in recruitment process and to propose solution for instituting an effective recruitment process at KCMC.Primary data were collected by using questionnaires and in-depth interview; Quantitative data were analysed using regression method through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The study concludes that level of usage of IS, readiness in usage, skills and knowledge of IS exhibit strong relationship on recruitment process. It implies that organizations need to direct more efforts on IS in recruitment process in order to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness of the process. It is recommended that other studies should focus on other factors that hinder effectiveness of information system usage in the recruitment process in Tanzanian environment. Besides, this study used only one hospital located at Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to generalize the findings due to time and budget constraints.
