Abstract
This research focuses on investigating why CRDB BANK engages in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), how they apply CSR and how CSR can affect the profitability of the Bank. I have conducted a case study on CRDB BANK, in order to gain a deeper understanding of CSR. I studied why CRDB BANK engage in CSR, how do they apply it and to see if there is a relationship between the profitability of the bank and the practice of CSR. This was done through interview to senior officials of the Bank, at the CRDB BANK Headquators. I have found out that CRDB BANK reasons of Engaging in a CSR activities are to be a good corporate citizen but also to make its corporate brand known in the society and make profit. My recommendation therefore is that more companies must invest in CSR activities also market their activities so the people can know what they are doing to the society. This will help the companies increase sales motivate employers and also improve the reputations of the companies. But in practicing CSR companies must strike a balance in investing in CSR and making sure not to compromise their objective of profit maximization. I also recommend a broader study to be undertaken on studying the practice of CSR in more firms and deferent sectors so more can be known on the CSR practice.
