Abstract
This study aimed at studying factors that influence the export of Tanzania manufactured textile products in foreign market. The study proposed that availability of international network and composition of human resources of different country of origin as a key element that will facilitate growth of exportation to foreign markets. It also compared the level of export among three countries of East Africa and compared them with what the literature says. The study area was in Dar es salaam, as taking the advantage that it is the main business city in the country. A random sample of 100 business owner managers and other business officials was used with 85% response rate. It was shown that international network or linkage is very important for firms exporting textile product to survive. It was also revealed that presence of foreigners in firms helped them to export big amount of their products. On comparing among the East African countries, it is seen that Tanzanian is far behind Kenya but ahead of Uganda. The study concluded that presence of networking in Tanzania exporting firms together with presence of foreigners in form of joint venture or other means are important factors that ensure that firms are utilizing their export capacity efficiently. It is recommended that Tanzania government and its organs should assist firms in building network with foreigners. Also the government and its organs should consider offering trainings concerned textile industry at both management and technical aspects. It should also learn from other countries which have good export trend how did they achieved that level.
