dc.description.abstractThe study was carried out to assess citizen participation in the implementation of local government budget process. The research looks at the practice of participatory budget in Ilala Municipal council by evaluating the process of participatory budget, the extent to which Participatory budgeting has been implemented and its influence in the improvement of quality, access and equitable delivery of public services. The study employed survey methods in the collection of data through a questionnaire. Purposive sampling was applied to select respondents with desired characteristics. Reliability and validity were tested for the purpose of making this study worth data were analysed through descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings of the study showed that active participatory budgeting alone does not significantly influence Outcomes of Active Participatory Budgeting however the study indicated significant positive relationship between the factors influencing participatory budget process and the outcomes of active participatory budgeting. The study recommends that municipal councils should frequently involve citizen in the preparation of municipal budget in order to ensure that their needs are taken into account in final decisions. The involvement of citizen in participatory budget process will influence the final outcome of service delivered to the society.en_US
