Abstract

The human population increase land use/cover changes in the northern highland of Karatu district is not only issues demographic factors but also an arrays of other factors like policies, socio- economic and ecological factors. The study examines land use and land cover changes in upper- and layer be in Karatu district. The main theory used in this study is the Malthus theory on population growth and hence s population pressure typology model as examine the indicators of population pressure on land resources. The land use /cover changes the study areas where determined through the Kitele use of GIS other methods includes focus group discussion, questionnaire, trance walk and field observation. The methods used for analysis were qualitative and quantitative.
