Abstract

This study aims at finding out the factors which cause employees turnover in security companies in Tanzania. A total of 150 questionnaires were successfully collected. The data collected was ananlysed through descriptive analysis tools and content analysis for the narratives. Findings show that job related factors like working environment, training, recognition, rewards for good performance and relationship with supervisors influence employee turnover. Additionally, the organisational factors such as poor motivation, a nature of the work and lack of involvements influence employee’s turnover. Furthermore, employees mention job insecurity as a being important in determining turnover. Based on the findings several recommendations have been made that would help the organizations to improve on employee retention.
