Abstract
united republic of Tanzania instructed Tanzania foreign missions to implement Tanzania’s new foreign policy focusing on economic diplomacy since 2001. needless to mention, these missions were used to operate mostly on political matters. this study sought to investigate to what extent the Embassies and High Commissions (HCs) have managed to fulfill the desired goal. The hypothesis of the work was communication strategies of Tanzania Ambassadors and High Commissioners abroad have increased awareness of foreign Investors to invest in Zanzibar. The study was guided by the assumption that the communication strategies of the Embassies were created and promoted and given enough resources to comply with the new demands. Data for the study were gathered from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC), 21 Tanzania missions abroad, Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA), current foreign direct investors and Tanzania foreign missions websites by using questionnaires, interviews, documentaries and observations. The findings revealed that only a few foreign missions have extensively advertised Zanzibar while the bulk of them have done little or even nothing. missions have been minimally involved in branding, selling and It was concluded that mss marketing Zanzibar abroad. In addition they lack resources required for the job. It is ded that foreign missions should strengthen their communication strategies recommen and be given adequate tools to improve their working conditions.
