Abstract
This study assessed the effects of TQM practices in the Tanzania manufacturing sector market performance. Specifically, the study examined the effect of TQM communication-based efforts, management-based effort, employee involvements effort, and customer focused on TQM manufacturing sector market performance. This study was conducted to bring the attention to the cements manufacturing sector on how the application of TQM have effects on the marketing performance. The study was conducted at Tanzania Portland Cement Company limited. Data were collected from 108 randomly selected respondents. Data were then analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 20 (SPSS.v.20) where frequency, percentage mean and standard deviation were ascertained. Data were then subjected to correlation and regression analysis. The findings revealed that the employee involvement and management-based efforts were the most significant factors contributing to the manufacturing sector market performance. On the other hand, customer focus and internal employee communication were found to have low significant influence on market performance. The study recommends that in order for the manufacturing sector to have effective market performance it must put more efforts on the employee involvement as the key to organizational processes and decision making towards a targeted organization goal and management based efforts as management strive to clearly mission and vision of the organization. Further study should be conducted on the adaptation of TQM on small organizations / industries in Tanzania.
