This study brings forward an argument that, entertainment-education (also known as edutainment) in Tanzania is increasingly being effectively used as an approach towards behaviour and attitude change communication in addressing HIV/AIDS issue. Artistically, there have been serial radio drama, theatre performances, music festivals, television soap operas etc. However the results are far from satisfactory. In this study, the researcher explores the effectiveness of video films interventions among young men in combating gender violence which is one of the major HIV/AIDS risk behaviours. Other HIV risk behaviours include infidelity and inconsistent condom use. The study focuses on young men because they are among the groups which are in high risk of HIV. Working from the belief that HIV and gender violence video films increase young men’s sense of self-efficacy, this study has signified the viability of video films in enhancing positive attitude. The findings indicate that video films intervention is a viable tool to reduce HIV-gender based violence transmission.en_US
