dc.description.abstractThe main objective of this study was to assess the factors affecting the adoption of internet banking in Tanzania. The study adopted the technological acceptance model as the central theory. The study was guided by specific objectives which were firstly to establish whether the level of awareness of internet banking affects the adoption of internet banking, secondly to ascertain if the perception of internet banking affects its adoption and thirdly to determine if the perception of usefulness of internet banking affects its adoption. The study involved a case study design. Literature review reveals similar studies that have been conducted in the past in African Region. The importance of this study is that it is being done when Information Computer Technology (ICT) advancement is widespread among African countries. This study being conducted in 2016 stand out as the most recent study in regards to the topic being researched. The purpose of this study was to fill this gap by providing more recent findings on the subject. From the literature, several factors have been identified to affect the adoption of internet banking. In this study, data was collected from 150 CRDB Bank Plc customers using structured questionnaire and from 30 CRDB Bank Plc customers using structured interview. The result shows that the adoption of the internet banking is influenced by a several factors, such as age, gender, education level. However, above that, there are key factors that have been observed to have a direct effect in the adoption process of the internet banking. These factors include, level of customer awareness, customer perception on ease of use, the customer perception of usefulness, customer perception of reliability.en_US
