Abstract
This study examined Information Needs and Information-Seeking Behaviour of Investigators in Tanzania: A Case Study of The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau. The study was conducted at the Headquarters of the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) in Dar es Salaam. Data were collected by using questionnaires, interviews and observation. Questionnaires were distributed to 50 Investigators while Interviews were conducted with the Officer In-charge of Management of Information Systems Unit and two Librarians. The study revealed that Investigators need information for case preparation, research work, preparing seminars or workshop presentations, improving personal knowledge, administrative activities, professional needs as well as leisure needs. Results further revealed that investigators at PCCB relied heavily on both print and electronic sources, the Internet, television, radio, newspapers, government documents and human sources. The study further revealed that inadequate Internet connectivity and information materials as well as inadequate time in searching for information were a common problem at the PCCB. Others included download delays and inaccessibility to some websites. The study recommended for formation of a Collection Development Committee with representatives from each department to continuously select relevant and current print and electronic sources for use by the PCCB Investigators
