Abstract

The study assessed factors for effective asset management in the public sector organization. The study examined the extent to which regulatory framework, management information system and human resource management influences effective asset management. The primary data were gathered by the use of structured questionnaire administered to 60 respondents (managers and other stakeholders). Secondary data were obtained through review of various financial reports especially in the accounting and finance departments particularly the selected public organizations. Data were analyzed using appropriate descriptive statistical package namely Statistical Package for Social Science version 20 (SPSS.v.20). Results reveal that regulatory framework highly significantly influences effective asset management, followed by human resource management and lastly regulatory framework as showed in multiple regression interpretation. The study concluded that all the three variables have a greater positive influence towards effective asset management in the public sector organizations.
