Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the Internationalization of small scale gemstone miners in Tanzania. It further assessed the extent to which resource constraints affects small scale miners' internationalization, the effect of technology and government support on small scale miners' internationalization. A random sampling was used to select 100 respondents. The sample was taken from small scale miners in order to get in-depth information from their experience for fulfilling the study objectives. Data analysis was based on qualitative and some quantitative techniques. The findings of the study revealed that small scale miners were yet attained performance to the level of internationalization because of several drawbacks. Some of the barriers realized during the study included, poor communication, and limited distribution of resources at Mererani which make small scale miners fragmented. The use unsophisticated mining equipment was the main hindrance towards large quantity and quality production. From the findings of the study a number of recommendations have been provided so as to increase the volume of ministerial export from mining sector.
