The main objective of this study was to examine the relationship between training and development practices and employee performance. The study was specifically seeking to determine the relationship of the three components of training and development practices namely; CP, TM and EA on employee performance of Tanzania companies. The focus group was respondents working in TBL Company in Mwanza plant. Specifically a descriptive survey aimed at a targeted population from a company as the representative of other TBL plants. The study involved collecting information by administering questionnaire to the sample. Statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze data. The data was then summarized using tables and line graphs. The key findings from the study indicate a positive relationship between independent variables and dependent variable, in addition, training produce useful for the employee knowledge, skills, ability, competences and behavior which then enable employee to be company’s citizenship. The study results showed that there is positive relationship between independent variables and dependent variable, this indicates that management invest much in human resource so that to have people who then become loyal to the company. On the other hand, a study can be undertaken on the challenges facing training and development practices, on other variables of training and development towards employees’ performance. The study recommends that in order to keep an employee up to date he/she needs training and to be developed. The future research can be undertaken to other companies including those located up country, on different types of training and development practiced by TBL in its performance.en_US
