Abstract

The digital divide has created a knowledge gap between Information rich and information poor people giving rise to a new form of illiteracy. Information Technology (IT) has become a dependable organisational resource, so proper training quality and performance of the training centers (or schools) is still problematic as available evaluation tools were and are still predominantly derived from the perceived customer perception. Lack of knowledge on various ICTs` use and usefulness has hindered Tanzania from adequately perform and utilise to the best the powers, strengths, opportunities and benefits of ICT. With a positivism approach various derived tools from different sources and scholars were used in this research to develop construct based on Likert-type of a questionnaire to determine and analyses the perceived offered quality of the ICT training centers and see if these centers are suitable for providing IT training and if the performance of the attendees is suitable. Using the Chi-Square and ANOVA, obtained results and findings show that most of the ICT-training centers are perceived to be doing well in providing the required quality of IT knowledge. This study, however, gives some highlights in the areas where IT-training centers' performance (in Tanzania) can be improved to achieve a world class level of ICT knowledge and utilization and thus reducing the perceived digital divide.
