The aim of this investigation is to find plant species which could be implanted along the shores of the future Mtera impoundment, preferably plants suitable for grazing and effective in preventing erosion. The species selected will then be propagated in large amounts and implanted along the shores the first time the water recedes after the filling of the reservoir. This "Implanting study” is planned to include also experiments on the resistance of selected plants to submersion and drought of varying duration. At the same time their colonization capacity, nutritional value, and resistance to grazing and silting will be studied.en_US
