Africa thinks of debt moratorium

Abstract

Organisation of African Unity (OAU) states wanted the continent to declare a moratorium on 3,140bn/= - (170 billion dollars) of debt. But the propasal was resisted by more moderate states and the July 18-21 summit was insteady expected to call for an International conference of donors states and creditors to find a way on easing the debt burden
