Memoranda prepared for the C.C.T.A conference on social sciences to be held at Bukavu in the Belgian Congo in August and September 1955

The purpose of the memoranda which follow is to provide as comprehensive a picture as possible of the present state of our knowledge in the various social sciences in regard to the four East African Territories. They also aim at giving some account of research at present in progress in and, in reference to this last category, to provide an indication of the relative priorities attached to those projects by the governments concerned.
