The management plan for the Ngorongoro conservation area and its implementation: report

Abstract

My examination of the Conservation Area took place within the periods 1st - 15th June, 1962 (when the vegetation was exceptionally lush and green following quite abnormal rains) and 23rd – 31st July, 1962 (by which time dry-season fires were already burning in the crater highlands). I had, of course previous knowledge of the Area stemming from the time (1950-54) when I was Chief Conservator of Forestss, Tanganyika, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Serengeti National Park.
