It remained to the British to give legal protection to the area marked oat on the ground by their predecessors The Siedentopf farms have been referred to in this store of Ngorongoro. They were established by Adolph Siedentopf as the dominants character, with his brother Friebrioh Wilhelm in a more subordinate role. Adolph entered the Crater in about 1899 as as equate but finnally obtained legal title to his land before world war 1 broke out. the boundaries are shown in fgiure 8 covering about one thirdof the crater floor. the ruins of the farmhouse on the Munge river are a well known landmark for visitors. the Brother's farm at Lerai, Marked by the conspicuous grove of eucalyptus tree, never received legal little. an application was pending when war broke out in 1914. if it had been approved the farm would have taken in a portion of the crater floor and a larger area of the leirobi grasslands lying to the west of conservation Headquarteren_US
