Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine whether micro financing of women's businesses plays an active role in solving women's problems such as those related to their welfare. The study attempted to investigate the effectiveness and impact of micro-financing programs on women's businesses and their livelihood. The study revealed that most women who were involved in credit schemes did so to reduce economic hardships. Even women who were involved in credit schemes did so to reduce economic hardships. Even women married to employed persons were forced to conduct micro and small businesses because their spouses' salaries did not adequately meet the needs of their families. This study found that inadequate training and lack of knowledge in the field of business contribute greatly to poor performance of most women's businesses. We recommended that in order to improve the performance of women's businesses, the government should monitor the activities performed by micro-financing institutions
