dc.description.abstractThe general objective of this study was to assess the impact of TASAF III funding programmes on livelihoods among rural communities of Serengeti district in Tanzania. The study used both descriptive and exploratory design was used to collect qualitative data. A sample of 111 TASAF III beneficiaries was drawn through simple random sampling. the study also used key informants who were selected through purposive sampling. the study also used key informants who were selected through purposive sampling. mainly, a cross-sectional survey method was used to collect data by using questionnaires, structured interview instruments. Additionally, observation method was deployed to gather primary data. Besides that, a documentary review approach was used to collect secondary data. The quantitative data was analyzed by using IBM Statistical Product for Service Solutions (SPSS) Version 20. The study’s key findings suggest that TASAF has a minimal contribution towards poverty reduction among the programme beneficiaries in Serengeti district. The project’s contribution was observed in the diversification of socio-economic activities, improvement in access to health and education services, and in the enhancement of food security and income generating activities. Regarding the perceived importance of TASAF, a significant percentage of the programme beneficiaries pointed out that had a positive contribution to their lives. Furthermore, the findings show that the programme is not free from challenges and problems. The main challenges noted by the study were; delay of financial support, deduction of funds allocated to project beneficiaries, and shortage of experts whose can help beneficiaries on capacity building of financial and business management. As a result, the study recommends a number of appropriate and v iable strategies and interventions for enhancing the effectiveness of TASAF III programme.en_US
