This study attempts to find out the effects of employee training and development on the employees performance at Action Aid International Tanzania. It assessed the relationship between the methodologies used for training the employees and their impact on the performance of the employees in the organization. Theoretical framework of this study was built by pursuing various literatures on human resources theories especially training. The study was qualitative in nature applying phenomenographical approach. It was conducted in Kinondoni Municipal in Dar es Salaam, a case study of Action Aid International Tanzania. Thirty two (32) reproducts were involved in the study including managers’ facilitators and other employees. Four (4) methods of data collection were used and these were documentary review, interview, observation and questionnaire. The data were analysed by firstly presenting raw data, categorizing them into groups, reassessing, interpreting, discussing them critically organizing them for report writing. Generally it was concluded that the strategies (approaches, methods and techniques) used in training and development programme were inadequate due to facilitators` lack knowledge in training and lack of funds. This study recommends for the facilitator to provide oral, written and practical examination at the end of each training programme for evaluation of what has been achieved or failed.en_US
