dc.description.abstractThe use and development of IS has improved the efficiency and flexibility in providing services. While computerization is taking places at fast speed, the security of critical IS assets is a growing concern for management. This is because the potential for damage is intensified and may result in the loss of strategic information and property. If these risks are not taken care, the objectives of organizations might be negatively affected. The research reported here is about the assessment of awareness of IS security management in Teachers colleges. The research took place in Tanzania-Morogoro region where two teachers colleges were involved (Mhonda and Morogoro). The data collection instruments were questionnaires organized into five point likert scale. The respondents were mainly college administrators. ICT coordinators. Tutors and students researchers. This research present the empirical investigation carried out in colleges under study. The study seeks to explore the awareness of IS security management in teachers colleges: with the aim of improving Is security management to minimize risks. The research contributes to increased empirical knowledge on the importance of the IS security awareness. The research confirmed that the joint effort between the ministry of Education and Vocational Training and the college management are important for the success of IS security awareness through acquired knowledge and confidence at all levels that increase more research works to identify more variables and influence IS awareness programs. This means that the college management should internalize security management practices, thus enabling people to act confidently knowing about IS risks and their consequences for the core service operations of the college.en_US
