Global changes in ICT forced many organizations in Tanzania to change their modes of operation. Consequently, many are either connected to the World Wide Web or are networked with each other. Computer viruses (CVs) are transmitted very easily and fast, through the Internet including computer files sharing. Based on this understanding, the study sought to assess CVs awareness to the Tanzanian business community, to analyze socio-economic impacts caused by CVs and to suggest possible common management ways for curbing CVs. For the surveyed organizations data were collected through interview, filling- in questionnaires including observations. Data were analyzed using SPSS and MS Excel software. Organizations' awareness on CVs was found high (71%), those employ client server technique were successfully controls CVs (50%). Organizations with well configured and have corporate, licensed anti-virus undertake data back-ups. They spend between US$ 12,000 to 40,000 per year to deal with CVs It was concluded that CVs control should be given the highest priority to all ICT users Also a policy on CVs should be well written and be instituted. Knowledge exchange on Anti-viruses' configuration should be enhanced among System Administrators within Tanzania, Cv’s control training should be done frequently to all workers. The use of an inert operating system such as Linux to control the spread of Cv’s should be promoted for uses in workstations and for newly established organizations. Budget for CVs control should be considered at early stages.en_US
