Abstract

Contacting is an essential part of infrastructure development and management, since infrastructure makes the best part of a country assets, it falls automatically that the contracting industry is important to the economy of a country. The contracting industry is one of the factors that can fuel economic development of the country if concerted efforts are made to develop it. This research focuses mainly on effects of trade liberalization on growth of local contractors Tanzania perspectives. Trade liberalization has exposed local contracting and apparel industries to fierce competition from a growing number of international companies. Areas covered by this research are trade liberalization effects and benefits, Performance of local contracting industry under trade liberalization environment, problems facing local contracting industry and regulatory policies, study findings based on collected data from the field using questionnaires and interviews, Chi-square test of the collected data, research conclusion and recommendations to enable growth of local contractions and apparel firms.
