Abstract

The study assessed the effectiveness of employee’s involvement at the working place; a case study of National Social Security Fund. Firstly, the study assessed the perception of the employee’s involvement at NSSF. Secondly, the study examines the challenges facing employee’s involvement at NSSF. Thirdly, the study determined the success of Employees involvement in achieving the goals of NSSF. Study involved 78 respondents; 73 (93%) were Staff and 5 (7%) were Management of NSSF. Data collection process involved in this study was questionnaires and personal analysis interviews. Results showed that more than 50% of Employees were not involved in decision making at NSSF. However, for those who were involved 17 (23.3%) were not very much satisfied. Findings revealed different challenges which hinder employee’s involvement at NSSF which include; employees failing to use their right through their Trade Unions and Council workers, there were rigid and complicated administrative procedures of NSSF regarding employee’s involvement. In general findings discovered that employee’s involvement at NSSF was not effective. On the other hand, more than 50% of respondents agreed that there were success of employee’s involvement in achieving goals of NSS. Different ways were suggested to increase effectiveness of employee’s involvement at NSSF which include; Employees to use their Trade Union, Staff members who are representatives of Workers Councils should remind Management of NSSF regarding employee’s involvement and the Management of NSSF should comply with Labour Act No. 7 of 2007. It was recommended that Department of Human Resource Management of National Social Security Fund should provide education to their staff on the use of Trade Union and Workers representatives regarding employee’s involvement
