dc.description.abstractThe pastoral migration is a process that entails the movements of the pastoralists from one area to another. The aim of migration for the pastoralists is to look and search for places where they can conduct the pastoral activities of keeping animals as per their needs such as getting enough pasturelands and places with enough water. The study was conducted so as to identify the effects of migration tendencies of mobile communities on the academic performance of their children at the primary school level in Kilosa District. The study was guided by four objectives namely: to evaluate the students’ performance in migratory pastoral communities in primary schools in Kilosa District, to examine the level of enrollments in primary school among the migratory pastoralist’s children in Kilosa District. And to evaluate the intervention measures of migratory pastoralist education. To reach the aim of the study four schools were selected namely parakuyo. Mbwade Mwenge and Madoto primary schools in Kilosa District in Morogoro Region . methods of data collection included questionnaires, discussions and documentary reviews), classroom observation, focus group discussions and documentary reviews, SPSS statistical package of social sciences , frequency and percentages were used to analyze the data. Tables, graphs and charts were used to present the findings. The study found that the performance of students from more remote areas tend to have poor performance as compared to those who are close to small towns. On the other hand there is a moderate enrollment rate and high dropout rate of children from the migratory pastoral communities in the study area and that less commitment of the government official, poor relationship and communication between schools and parents being the source of the problems. The study recommends that the stake holders of education namely parents from the migratory pastoral communities, school administrators as well as teachers, the whole society and the Government should join their efforts together so that quality education is provided to children from the migratory pastorals. Quality education to pastoral communities can bring among other things: increased enrolment for class one age children, maintaining students in schools. Improved school attendances and improved academic performance of students in schools improved school attendances and improved academic performance of students in Natonal examinations as well as inculcating good societal standards, morals and values for children in schools and for the next generation. On its side the government has a crucial role of introducing proper educational policies and strategies for the migratory pastorals and effective supervision of the policies as far as migratory pastoral communities are concerned.en_US
