dc.description.abstractMkuranga District Council was established in 1995. The district has a limited ability to collect adequate revenue which can be used to enhance the provision of accessible, adequate, quality public social services. The study strives to assess the provision of public social services. It focuses on the perception of the General Public, Councilors and Mkuranga District Council Staff, regarding the provision of Public social services i n the District. The study has been carried out through field questionnaires and review of existing relevant official reports. The objectives of the study were to assess the present attitude and knowledge of the general public, the Councilors and Mkuranga District Council staff regarding the provision of public social services to the community served by MDC. The study findings indicate that prov1s10n of some public social services has improved . However, the citizens are still dissatisfied. The study was conducted in six wards of Mkamba, Kimanzichana, Mwarusembe, Mkuranga, Kisiju and Shungubweni . It covered a total of 62 people, which included councilors, staff and general public in each of the six wards of Mkuranga District Council. The report aggregates the opinions of the General Public, Councilors as well as Council Staff. The report also makes conclusion and recommendations which will help to guide Mkuranga District Council on what action to take in order to improve the provision of public social services in the jurisdiction of Council. The report is organized in five chapters. The first chapter is background information, the second chapter is literature review, the third chapter methodology, and the fourth chapter discusses key findings and the fifth chapter makes a Conclusion and offers some recommendations.en_US
