dc.description.abstractThis study is about the influence of Training and development on succession planning in Tanzania. The study was carried out following inadequacy of succession planning practices despite their importance. The study took place at Coca Cola Kwanza offices Mikocheni, Dar es Salaam. The researcher gathered information from 125 respondents using probability sampling by way of questionnaires. Descriptive statistics were employed, while chi-square test was used to test the significance of associations with the help of Statistical Package Software for Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings from the study revealed that Training and Development do influence Human Resource Succession Planning in several ways including: increasing skills to potential successors, increase confidence towards work as well as performance of the potential successors, it was also found that training and development may facilitate the implementation of succession plan as a result of curbing down un necessary turnover to the successors. Human Resource Succession Planning is important aspect for the organizational survival as well as training and development. Recommendations were made to all shareholders as follows: management should give much attention to the training and development since the main goal of the organization is continuity, staff also should capitalize the opportunity given by their employer of being trained and development for the betterment of the organization and themselves. Government also should consider including the aspect of Human Resource Succession Planning on the company policies and regulations.en_US
