Abstract
This study examined the influence of Tanzania's Export Processing Zones Authority in promoting exports of Local Manufacturing Industries. In summary, performance and competitive ability of Tanzania's manufacturing sector is hindered by poor Diversification, inward oriented attitude, low value addition and low capacity utilization. The study employed both qualitative and quantitative methods from which qualitative information was analyzed using content analysis technique while quantitative data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics method. The study found that diversification in EPZs program; EPZs incentives as well as EPZs economies play a major role in increasing exports of local manufacturing industries. However, the study found out that there is low level of diversification of local manufacturing industries operating under EPZs umbrella and lack of awareness of local manufactures on EPZs program. On the other hand, the findings reveal the program is constrained with low level of development of its economies which hinders further investments. From the findings, the study has offered a number of recommendations. The recommendations if implemented among other things, will promote investments and export of local manufacturing industries, export diversification and exports of value added products.
