Abstract
This study looked at the Environmental NGOs in Tanzania, especially in Dar es Salaam region, to see how they were capable and sustainable toward the delivery of information dealing with environmental management to the community. Suggestions have been made on how to increase and maintain their capability and sustainability towards the delivery of environmental management information in the community. The main objective was to explore the reasons for the failure and little achievement of most of environmental NGOs in this endeavor so as to provide additional information on how capability and sustainability of NGOs can be attained and maintained especially the delivery of environmental management in communities, which will be through running of their daily activities in order to achieve their goals and objectives of organization. The study found most of the NGOs did depend most for their financial, material and technical support on the external donors and NGOs. That made them not sustainable and capable especially once the projects ended. There should be a continuity of all the activities that had implanted by NGOs, this is to say that Management of these NGO has to be very creative and self committed. The study recommended that NGOs and government should work hand-in-hand with people at the grassroots to improve their environmental activities especially collection of garbage and nursery. These would in turn increase the environmental management capacity to the community and be able to reduce environmental degradation.
