The Workshop was convened by IUCN - the World Conservation Union - with support from NORAD and the EEC Food Aid Counterpart Fund. It was attended by 49 participants and chaired by Dr. M.W. Holdgate, Director-General of IUCN. The Workshop was convened to consider the findings of a three-year programme undertaken by IUCN in collaboration with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) and the Ministry of Lands, Natural Resources and Tourism of Tanzania. The programme was designed to review land-use practices within the Ngorongoro. Conservation Area (NCA) and to assist with the formulation of a land-use strategy for the Area. Most of the participants in the workshop had been in one way or another involved in or connected with the programme.en_US
