This study sought to explore the factors which affect delivery of service quality in the health care industry in Tanzania. It focused on an empirical analysis of the relationship between the financial management parameters and the five dimensions of service quality in the healthcare industry which include budget process, internal audit functions, external audit functions, financial reporting, cost analysis and the integration of financial information and clinical services information systems. The study reports on empirical evidence as drawn from a case study of large hospitals in Dar es Salaam region, Tanzania. A total of 80 respondents, comprising: doctors, nurses, clinical officers, laboratory technologists, pharmacists, administrators, financial officers and patients were consulted. Data were collected through closed and open ended questionnaires. The findings revealed that there is a positive and direct relationship between the financial management factors and the hospitals service quality delivery. The financial management variables were significant in explaining the hospitals service quality delivery. This means that poor financial management in hospitals led to poor service quality delivery in the hospitals. In the same manner, good financial management in the hospitals led to better service quality delivery in the hospitals. This implies that better hospitals service quality can be realized by improving and having a sound and effective financial management at the expected standards and also by the adoption of higher technology for Management Information Systems (MIS) in the hospitals.en_US
