This study aimed at determining factors influencing primary healthcare utilization in Tanzania. Specifically, the study focused on the socio, economic and demographic factors that affect utilization of primary healthcare, available in public and private facilities. To assess the influencing factors, secondary cross-section data of the National Panel Survey of 2012/2013 was used for the household’s members visited PHC facilities, a month before the survey. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and binary logit regression analysis. The results indicated that education and welfare level, waiting time, drug availability, marital status, medical and total expenditure influence utilization behavior of the household members. However, the insurance holding and the age of the household members are found not to be significantly affecting primary healthcare utilization. The study concluded that since the primary health care in Tanzania is one of the pleasing part of the health care delivery system, it needs to be given prominent efforts. There is a need for the government to set up measures of reducing the out of pockets payments, extent of waiting time as well as increasing the level of essential drugs and the quality of the primary healthcare facilities.en_US
