The main objective of the study was to determine the role of railway transportation on the soft drink industry performance in Tanzania the case of lite beverage factories; Specific objective of the study were to assess the extent to which the size of carrying capacity, the cost of transport and the extent to which perceived risk of railway transportation influence soft drink industry performance. The study used convenient sampling to pick a total sample size of 100 respondents for the two companies these are Coca Cola Kwanza Bottlers Ltd and Bakheresa Food Product Ltd. Data were collected through a survey and questionnaire technique. Descriptive statistics was used aided by SPSS to compute frequencies and percentages of respondents’ answers, inferential statistics using linear regression and correlation analysis were used to examine the relationship between the research variables. The study found out that the size of carrying capacity and cost of transport were the strongest predictions of the performance of soft drink industry using railway transportation. It was also found out that perceived risk has less influence on the performance of the soft drink industry using railway transportation. Therefore the study recommends that railway transportation is an essential means to foster and adequately promote industrialization in the country including the soft drink industry. This assures performance as a result of the size of carrying capacity since it is adequate; as well as the cost incurred is highly minimal. Also it is recommended that the construction of railway lines over and above standard gauge should be stimulated for business developmenten_US
