The purpose of this study was to investigate pre-service science teachers perception on their competencies to integrate ICT in teaching. The study was conducted in two big public universities in Tanzania. The study employed a mixed research approach and a concurrent nested design was employed in this study. Purposive sampling technique was used and the sample size for the study comprised of 127 respondents. The study employed semi-structured questionnaires, interview schedules and focus group discussion as methods for data collection. The collected quantitative data were analyzed by using SPSS version 20 by using the descriptive statistics to calculate frequencies and percentages while the qualitative data were analyzed by using the inductive thematic analysis approach. The perception of majority prospective science teachers suggested that, they were incompetent to integrate ICT in teaching and learning. The study further revealed that, ICT facilities availability, insufficient ICT courses, the mode of delivery of the ICT courses, and the lack of prior knowledge about ICT were the barriers to acquisition of the ICT skills. The study concluded that, prospective science teachers had negative perception on their competences to integrate ICT in teaching. The study recommends that, more ICT course should be offered during the pre- service training to equip prospective with skill and confidence to integrate ICT in teaching. Furthermore, the ICT infrastructures should be improved to promote better learning of ICT at the universities.en_US
