dc.description.abstract | The Ngorongoro conservation area (NCA), in northeRn Tanzania, has been established as a multiple land-use unit to fulfil the interests of conservation, pastoralism, supporting both large residents population of wildlife and a majority of the Serengeti's migratory species during the wet season. in addition, the forests of the highland areas are a vial water catchment for the surrounding, densely settled, agricultural lands. approximately 15,000 Maasai pastoralists resides within the NCA , together with their herds of cattle, sheep and goats. Lastly, a number of archeological sites, including Olduvai Gorge, the site of some of the most important hominid fossil finds by Leakeys, are also situated within the NCA | en_US |
