Abstract

The main objective of this study was to establish the factors affecting employee job satisfaction in private organizations, as job satisfaction is the cornerstone in realizing organizational goals. The case study being Sun Biofuels (T) Ltd. Job satisfaction is a broad term. The study specifically looked into attitude and motivation. Effective and efficient performances are highly dependent on motivated and satisfied employees. Job satisfaction among employee is a corner stone in realizing organizational goals. As an emotion response, job satisfaction is often determined by how well the outcome exceeds expectations. A simple random sampling method was used to select 54 respondents from the production, administration and accounts departments, to be given questionnaires and to be interviewed. The study applied qualitative techniques for data analysis, supplemented by the Software Package for Statistical Science (SPSS). The findings reveal that the attributes of expectation, information flow, work conditions and job security have direct correlation with attitude. This means that respondents' attitudes are moderate towards SBF and also job satisfaction is moderate. Moreover the findings reveal that on the attributes of the area of choice and job satisfaction and opportunity for advancement and job satisfaction the respondents were satisfied hence attributed to Job satisfaction. From these statistics, we can conclude that with regards to motivation, employees at SBF are moderately satisfied with area of choice and opportunity to advance. Furthermore on the issue of freedom of adopting own approach to job satisfaction it was found out employees were moderately satisfied as far as the area of salary and other benefits are concerned. They are however not satisfied with the way they are recognized. However from the findings of the study employees were not satisfied with the way they are recognized. In order for the company to realize its goals and to achieve its objectives a number of recommendations have been provided in this study.
