dc.description.abstractThis study examines the cultural change of attitudes towards participation of the women in Political leadership in Kinondoni Municipality in Dar es Salaam. Two theories were adopted for data collection, analysis and interpretations namely Democratic theory and liberal theory. Methodologically the study adopted a descriptive and diagnostic research designs. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were used to collect data presented in this study. Basically 150 respondents, 75 male and 75 female were involved where data were collected by using interviews and questionnaires. The study establishes that there is slow but progressive change of attitude where by women numbers in politics and dialogues have been increasing. Besides, the policies continue to support women and it is observed further in this study that in fact 2015 women challenged by reaching presidential candidacy with two nominees and one candidate. The study establishes further that bad cultural practices have no choices but to change hindrances to Tanzanian women from participating in political leadership. Understandably, cultural attitudes have the power to shape human beings’ mindsets from childhood to maturity thus needs to be challenged. The study also recommended that women should show up confidently to contest for different political posts instead of waiting for special seats and special considerationen_US
