dc.description.abstract | This study investigated the effects of training and counseling of children from worst forms of child labour, a case study of CHODAWU centres in Dar-es-Salaam-Tanzania. The main objective of the study was to investigate how children from worst forms of child labour had benefitted from the vocational training and counseling acquired from CHODAWU centres. The study sample comprised of 49 respondents who were selected randomly and purposively. The study focused on the types of vocational training and counseling provided to children, type of work in which the children were engaged after completion of their training. The views of the children towards the training they had received were sought in relation to the activities they had engaged in. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews and documentary reviews. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive data method. The study indicated that a large number of the respondents had entered into worst forms of child labour because of various influences including poverty and high dependence ratio. The study found that most respondents benefitted from vocational training and counseling, were able to establish their own businesses and sell products. The study recommended that training centres should be established in all regions and the government should support them helped by NGOs and CBOs. | en_US |
