Abstract
Microfinance is considered to be the effective tool in fighting poverty in the developing countries. It has been possible by providing micro credits to those who have no access or neglected for financial services by commercial banks. This is the dynamic area in the development phenomenon, which creates both jobs for employees and employers for borrowers. Despite the establishment of many Microfinance Institutions in the late 1990s, poverty has remained deep and severely affects the life of many people in Tanzania. Bearing this fact, the researcher decided to carry out this study in order to determine the Role played by ICT in Microfinance Institutions in Tanzania using the case of PRIDE Tanzania. To realize this objective of the study; four special objectives were employed ta examine the extent of Information System acceptance by staff, the quality of information Systems in microfinance institutions, ICT support development infrastructure and roles of managers in supporting development of ICT in microfinance institutions and its effectiveness. To archive these objectives, four hypotheses were advanced to study the situation which were rested on the Acceptance of modem ICT and Information Systems utilization by staff, The quality of information Systems created by staff, the ICT support development infrastructures and organizational effectiveness and the Roles of managers in supporting development and ICT application in organizational results to success. The study conducted in Dar es Salaam region where PRIDE Tanzania limited staff work in supper Branches. A sample of 120 respondents randomly selected, but only 76 respondents returned the questionnaires equals to 63.33% response rate. The data collected and analyzed using the linear regression method in SPSS. The research findings indicated that there is a relationship between use of ICT in Microfinance and the success of an organization in Tanzania; as a result it impacts the individual employees performance hence impacts the organization performance. From the study, recommended that PRIDE Tanzania and other Microfinance Institutions should emphasize more on the use of ICT by training employees and investing more in ICT systems for poverty reduction in Tanzania.
