In Tanzania, the Local Government Authorities have significant responsibilities in the delivery of public services such as primary and secondary school education, water supply, road repair and maintenance and basic health care. In order to effectively perform their duties, attain their organizational goals and keep up with ongoing changes, LGAs must ensure that staffs are motivated. A survey research methodology was used in which employee were asked to answer a number of questions in the form of questionnaire. Epi Info analysis techniques for quantitative data were used and results were displayed by MS-Excel, spreadsheet in the form of table of frequency, percentage and figures. It is to this end that this study sought to determine the relationship between the motivational aspects available in Local Government Authority health sector in the Dodoma municipality and how they affect employee performance in meeting the health sector’s corporate objectives. Questionnaires, interview and documentary review were used in the study. The study revealed that employees are interested in enhanced salaries, fringe benefits, promotion, good working environment, recognition, job security, overtime payment on merit as motivating elements sufficient to push them to perform their duties. Measures should be put in place by management to ensure that there is continuity in the promotion of staff to avoid low morale in terms of service delivery. The study revealed that if management withdrew motivational packages it will have serious consequences on employee’s performance. There was a positive relationship between employee performance and motivation since employees were able to achieve the best of the service delivery in their work place through performance indicators in terms of low level of absenteeism and excuses, high quality of service, accurate time reporting to and leaving from the workplace and job commitment. Management can take into consideration theories such as equity theory, Macllend theory, Vrooom, Abraham Maslow and Hertzberg two factors to ensure employees achieve work targets.en_US
