This major purpose of this study was to investigate the level of awareness and use of open educational resources by students and faculty at the Local Government Training Institute in Dodoma. Specifically, the study sought to assess the extent to which students and faculty are aware of Open Educational Resources; examine the extent to which students and faculty use Open Educational; find out challenges faced in using Open Educational Resources; as well as solicit views on strategies to improve the access and use of Open Educational Resources. Data were collected through questionnaires, face to face interviews and observation, supplemented by documentary review. Data were analysed by using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS version 21) as well as content analysis, for quantitative and qualitative data respectively.Findings have shown that although majority of respondents were aware of Open Educational Resources, they underutilised them due to various factors, such as limited access to the Internet, inadequate search skills, and limited awareness of relevant Open Educational Resources. The lack of connected computers in the library negatively affected awareness, access and use of the resources by respondents due to resulting limitations in provision of access, awareness creation, and training on internet search. Some other challenges noted are unreliable power supply and language barriers. This study recommends provision of computers with internet connectivity in the library, creating awareness to users on relevant Open Educational Resources, imparting users with internet search skills, as well as ensuring reliability of power supply.en_US
