dc.description.abstractThis study investigated HIV/AIDS cases and the level of knowledge awareness of the same among secondary school girls. This study was guide by four research objectives which were (i) To assess the magnitude to prevalence of HIV/AIDS cases and the level of knowledge in Korogwe district. (ii) To identify the risk behavior and environment which caused HIV/AIDS among secondary school girls in. (iii) To examine the efforts that were been made in Korogwe to combat HIV/AIDS among secondary school girls. (iv) To identify effectiveness of HIV/AIDS preventive measures in secondary school girl in Korogwe district and proposed ways for improvement. The study was conducted in Korogwe town council, Korogwe town council, Korogwe district. It involved Korogwe Girls Secondary School, Semkiwa, Nyerere Memorial, Kwamndolwa, Shemsanga, and Mgombezi secondary schools. There were 135 respondents of which 105 were students with 35 boys and 70 girls, and 30 key informants. The study methodology was both qualitative and quantitative, Questionnaires, semi structured interviews, focus group discussions and documentary search were used in the study. Finding that were not co-operated in taking HIV/AIDS preventive measures. There was statistical difference between boys and girls in condom use, where by boys used condoms more often them girls. There was a limited HIV/AIDS intervention, thus almost all Schools had no active HIV/AIDS program or club for students, that could gave life skills on sex education. It was recommended that schools and stakeholders should work to establish consistent and strong HIV/AIDS interventions programs among secondary schools so as check its widespread adverse impacts.en_US
