dc.description.abstractHTV/AIDS was first reported about three decades ago but there has been no cure or a vaccine to stop the escalating trend of the pandemic. Given the fact that most of the affected people are the youths, therefore the study examined the role of a well-known music, Bongo Flava, as the most reliable approach of sensitizing youths on how to prevent themselves from HIV/AIDS. In view of this, research Personal observation, interviews, questionnaires and secondary data reviews were employed in conducting the study on Bongo Flava artists, and their funs in Dar es Salaam. The findings show that Bongo Flava is the best relevant approach for sensitizing youths about HIV/AIDS. It is employed by youths themselves hence cut across all obstacles and barriers including cultural, sexual and religious taboos that resist parents from talking with their children concerning H3V/AIDS. It also cut across economic and geographical obstacles that hinder free flow of information including poverty, shortage of staffs, illiteracy, remoteness of some areas and poor infrastructures. It was also discovered that Bongo Flava music has a strong emotional appeal and easy stick flute ones minds, and exert memories hence have the potential of creating them awareness about HIV/AIDS among the youths. However, there are few songs which tell about HIV/AIDS compared to other issues and very little has been done do prioritize it. As it the new way and bests relevant intervention of educating youths about HIV/AIDS therefore calls for different stakeholders to make a proper utilization of this genre of music.en_US
