dc.description.abstract | This study sought to examine the mode of recruitment and selection process in the Zanzibar public sector and its impact on organisational performance. The central assumption of this study was that recruitment and selection processes significantly affect service delivery. The study used both exploratory and research approaches. A total of 110 respondents were selected using simple random sampling method. The sample included 33 service users and 10 heads of departments who were purposely selected. The choice of the sampling elements was based on the simple random sampling that include employees at difficult levels these ministries. The key findings of the study are that the political affiliation, origin of the applicants and the historical background of the applicants were observed as the major factors that include the recruitment and selection processes. Besides, the public sector performance is also adversely affected by the lack of job description, misallocation of personnel and poor reward systems. The study has found that the recruitment and selection process in the public sector are facing various problems such as lack of systematic procedures and employees schemes. | en_US |
