T SHEET NO. 9 of the Human Rights of the Indigenous Peoples produced by the United Nations concisely summarizes the plight of the Maasai pastoralists forcefully evicted from the Mkomazi Game Reserve, this booklet intones that, Throughout human history, whenever dominant neighboring peoples have expanded their territories or settlers from far away have acquired new lands by force, the cultures and livelihood - even the existence of indigenous peoples have been endangered. The threats to indigenous peoples1 cultures and lands, to their status and other legal rights as distinct groups and as citizens, do not always take the same forms as in previous times.en_US
