dc.description.abstractThe study aimed at assessing the pricing strategies on services offered by Tanzania Regulatory Authorities a case study of Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS). The main objective of the study was to assess the pricing strategies on the services offered by the TBS and the challenges facing the management on pricing. The specific objectives were; to determine the effect of cost factors on product standards pricing, to determine the effect of market factors on product standards pricing and to assess the impact of Government subsidies on product standards pricing. The study involved a total of 93 respondents at TBS. Data were collected by using structured questionnaires, interview and documentary records. Regression analysis was used to analyze the structured questionnaire. The findings revealed that product costs have significant influence on product standards pricing, implying that product price is directly affected by product cost. Products’ price not only affected by products’ cost but also market factors (product quality, product life span, product design, consistency of the product and delivery time), Government subsidies and organization’s location. The study concluded that the management is responsible to understand all factors influencing or influenced by price and consider cost efficient as a better objective than high price in choosing apropriate pricing strategies. Government should consider the sales volumes growth by parastatal organizations as a strong factor to reducing Government expenditure and increase revenues by providing conducive business environment that could allow Government organizations’ self run.en_US
