The research problem was child domestic labour in Tanzania, particularly in urban areas. The general objective of the study was to investigate the role of information in combating the problem. This was a case study conducted in Kinondoni District, Dar es Salaam. Qualitative and quantitative research approaches were employed during data collection through the use of schedule, questionnaire and interview guides. Findings indicate that to some extent, the problem of child domestic labour has been minimised following the impressive strategies employed by stakeholders in combating the problem. They also indicate that efforts to reduce child domestic labour are hampered by uncoordinated actions and information breakdown in formal communication channels. The study concludes that information and communication play an important role in combating child domestic labour in Tanzania when it operates in a complete communication field. The study recommends that all stakeholders should work together in raising public awareness on the effects of child labour. Information-sharing systems between law enforcers and community leaders should be enhanced. The government ministries should support the process of investigating, prosecuting and ensuring stern measures against perpetrators of chi Id domestic labour. The Employment and Labour Relations Act no. 6 of 2004 should be translated into simple language for the community to both access and comprehend. Further research is required on the effectiveness of the procedures used by local government leaders to disseminate information to the members of their community in combating child domestic labour.en_US
